Collage Takes Home Three – Excellence In Construction Awards

Each year, the Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (CFC ABC) recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects built by CFC ABC members. The awards competition serves to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing the workmanship of those who contribute and by showcasing the results of their commitment. Each project entry is evaluated by selected judges represented by a cross-section of the industry, including local design professionals who either visit and tour each project or determine the score based on a presentation and awards entry book. The project entries are judged on execution of design, quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail, proper installation, outstanding planning and coordination efforts, challenges successfully overcome, project complexity, custom materials, safety program, and owner satisfaction.

The 2021 Excellence in Construction Awards Banquet was held on October 30, 2021, at Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. The Collage Companies was honored  with three awards including an Eagle Award for Tampa Union Station and Lake Lorna Doone Park as well as an Award of Merit for Aloft at Lake Buena Vista.  The Collage team was on hand to receive them.

Tampa Union Station

This project consisted of upgrades needed to achieve compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for the boarding platform adjacent to the historic Tampa Union Station.  970 linear feet of platform supported by  nearly 400 helical piles where put in place while the station continued to operate.  Work was coordinated in close proximity to the active rail as well as next to a Historical Rail, requiring a high degree of coordination with the rail operators.  The project operated fully during the pandemic initiating all Safety requirements and adapting to new CDC guidelines throughout and was ultimately  delivered on time and within the budget. All of the efforts resulted in a project worthy of the Excellence in Construction Award.

Lake Lorna Doone Park

Lake Lorna Doone Park is a historic community park located in Orlando. The park was built for Florida Citrus Sports Association, Inc. (“FCS”), which is a not-for-profit organization, and the City of Orlando. The park included re-configuration of internal park roads and parking, playground and spray (splash) park areas, community garden, park restroom facilities, fitness trails with fitness stations and ecology boardwalks, central solar pavilion with photovoltaic power system, multi-purpose event lawn area, renovated basketball courts, community chess areas and golf course.

Our mission to build projects that strengthen the foundation and fabric of our community, and our work at Lake Lorna Doone Park inspired us to contribute the placement of the newly-iconic fountain located at Lake Lorna Doone Park.
