The Collage Companies

The Collage Companies completed the North End Stabilization Project for the Town of Longboat Key, Florida. The town had experienced significant erosion of the north shore over the past years and selected Collage to resolve the problem. This project utilized two permeable adjustable groins to control the beach erosion. This was only the second application of this design–which incorporated steel piling, geotextile fabric, foundation stone and the placement of prefabricated concrete groins (stacked on top of each other) over the driven piles–in the state of Florida. The groins were constructed in place and were designed so that precast concrete groin members could be added or removed, depending on the performance of the jetty. Collage installed the system by creating a temporary platform adjacent to the new structure, utilizing sheet piling and sand. All work was constructed in complete compliance with all terms and conditions required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the U.S. Army Corps (USACE) permits.
