Collage Honored – The Florida Transportation Builders’ Association Safety Excellence Award

The Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA), has announced the winners of their inaugural FTBA Safety Excellence Award. The recognition, which is awarded in three categories based on employee hours, focuses on criteria and measurement of safety statistics such as TRIR and DART, as well as testimonials on the company programs including employee engagement, management commitment and best practices.

“We are excited to announce the winners of this inaugural recognition, focusing on members who prioritize and excel in not only the development of their safety programs, but in the consistency and implementation of these programs as well,” FTBA President Ananth Prasad said. “Safety is not only vital to the employees and those in and around road and bridge construction, but excellence in safety is crucial to the success and growth of the industry.”

The Collage Companies won the 0 to 250,000 hours category. 

The Collage Companies serves all of Florida from its headquarters in Lake Mary.  “The Collage Companies is honored to receive the first ever Safety Excellence Award from the FTBA.  We have a company-wide commitment to safety, top to bottom, and every person in this company is an advocate of safe practices with a personal stake in our safety performance,” said Rob Maphis, President of Collage. “The company places a financial emphasis on safety, with extensive training of our staff and hiring of third-party safety experts to support our onsite managers in their ongoing effort to keep our team and trade partners safe.”

The Collage Companies is a member of the Florida Transportation Builders Association – Florida’s Voice for the Transportation Construction Industry. For more than 75 years, FTBA’s members have consisted of individuals and business firms actively engaged in the construction of transportation systems or in the furnishing materials, equipment or services for such construction. Here is a look at some of Collage’s Transportation sector projects:

  • The Collage Companies completed the successful historic restoration of the Orlando Amtrak Station, meeting both City of Orlando historic preservation standards and FDOT vertical construction requirements.
  • The LYNX Central Station, built to meet increased demand for LYNX service, is located in the bustling heart of Downtown Orlando and has become a significant part of the city’s ever-growing skyline. The $36 million ($20 million main facility construction) facility replaced the existing downtown station and includes an 18,000sq. ft. air-conditioned seating area for riders with 2,400 sq. ft. designed for retail development.
  • Amtrak’s station at the Auto-Train’s southern terminus in Sanford, Florida was constructed by Collage with $10.5 million in Recovery Act funding,. The Auto Train, one of Amtrak’s best performing long-distance services, and one of the nation’s most innovative forms of intermodal passenger transportation, transports passenger together with their private automobiles non-stop from Lorton, Virginia (15 miles south of Washington, DC), to Central Florida.
  • Collage completed the FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) parking garage that serves the Kissimmee Intermodal Transportation Center. This four story, 160,000 SF, 400-car facility provides parking for transit riders of SunRail commuter trains and Lynx buses, patrons of Amtrak and Greyhoun
