Luminary Green at Creative Village

Orlando, FL

Collage provided construction management services for the Luminary Green Park, a 2.3-acre green space in downtown Orlando. The park is touted as the iconic “central park” for the downtown Orlando community, providing a shared space for students, residents, and visitors of Creative Village to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors. The park includes a one acre “great lawn” for events and recreation, a tree-lined promenade, various types of seating, functional and decorative lighting, and hardscaped areas for performance and/or future art installations.

A large artistic circular trellis coupled with a fabulous (and enormous) precast concrete “ORLANDO” sign, serve as the aesthetic anchor point of the north end of the park. The south end of the park is anchored with a keystone shaped plaza that memorializes the sidewalk pattern from the old “Orena”.  This plaza was constructed with a special glass aggregate that dazzles at night under the motorized lights mounted high above the pavement.

This park pays tribute to local “Luminaries”… people who have made positive impacts to the local community.  The park has designated places for twenty six of these luminaries to be recognized and honored.  As “Luminaries” are identified, custom  light towers are created and installed throughout the park.  These light towers include the name of the honorees and are internally lit allowing the light to shine forth into the park as a fitting tribute to each honoree.”

Luminary Green is a beautiful place to visit during the day but don’t miss visiting the park at night.  The entire park is lit with hundreds of special LED lights mounted throughout the park.  The City of Orlando has programmed a special light and sound show to occur on the hour from 5:00PM to 10:00PM.  The finishing touches are currently being made on a special media presentation to be projected onto the ORLANDO sign.  The park is always changing, and more and more items are being added to the park on a regular basis.

The City of Orlando has retained The Collage Companies to assist in the further development of this park as we manage the design and construction of these added features.” Collage enjoys a longstanding relationship working with the City of Orlando including working on the Camping World Stadium Improvement project and Lake Lorna Doone Park.
