Bert Winters Park

The Collage Companies served as General Contractor for Bert Winters Park in Juno Beach, Florida. This 15-acre public parks and recreation space is managed by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners and offers residents free access to south Florida’s Intracoastal  Waterway. The Bert Winters project included installation of three concrete boat ramps, three concrete floating docs, aluminum gangways, boat trailer parking, underground utilities and site lighting as well as a restroom building and picnic area. The park’s unique location on the Intracoastal Waterway presented several unique environmental sensitivities.  The Collage Companies worked with The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to safely relocate two gopher tortoises – a threatened breed that is protected under state law. Because of the projects water-front location great considerations were given to the care and protection of the surrounding mangrove forests, which thrive in salty environments and contribute to the overall health of the state's southern coastal zone. Watchful attention was given to the seagrass beds which are also protected under state law for their important role in maintaining water clarity and for the protective canopy they provide for smaller sea animals. The park was also in close proximity to a water front home community, so focused consideration was given to overall noise level and dust control.
